My Role: Student in HCDE 451
Tools: Figma, Sewing Machine, Laser Cutting, 3-D Printing
I took this class in the fall of my senior year. It centered on physical prototyping, and it was the class that I learned the most in. Each week, we learned a new physical prototyping skill - such as sewing on week 2. I valued this class because it was hands-on and involved.
Here is a link to a process journal of all the projects I made in the class.

Marathon Wealth Management is a company run by Melinda Satterlee, who is a registered Investment Advisor and founder. This company puts education of women first and understands the power financial literacy gives women.
During my time as an intern, I did all of the usual intern responsibilities, such as putting emails in email-lists and making copies. However, I also was managed her social media and designed all her social media, presentations, and leave-behind marketing pieces. I also carried out market research for her by collecting data through surveys and emails. We were able to get a better idea of who her audience was, what they wanted to know, and how they like information delivered to them.
Working with a startup gave me valuable and unique experience in the workplace. I was able to be hands-on in nearly every part of the creative process and collaborating with a small team let my ideas be reflected in the final products we made. I enjoyed having to think quickly and adapt to changing situations, as well as connecting very personally to my co-workers. Many times, I had to figure things out on the fly or without much guidance, but I was very proud with the effort I contributed to this team.

During the pandemic, I started a clothing brand. I wanted to create a space for women to express themselves in streetwear and skateboarding, as I saw there was no representation for women in these male-dominated industries. Thus, Badluck Market was born. I designed and screen-printed each piece by hand, and with the help of my friends earned over a thousand dollars in sales.
